Clyde Mays Gift Set and Special Reserve 5 Year Review

Clyde’s attention to detail helped set him apart from other moonshiners, and it meandered through every step. He started with the cleanest still possible and finished with baked apple slices. His high standards led to a whiskey that he felt proud to put his name on.

The Clyde Mays Gift Set includes:

“The Original” Clyde May’s Alabama Style Whiskey is aged 4 years in oak barrels and finished with a hint of apple. Great over ice but a solid choice for mixing a cocktail.
Clyde May’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey is aged 4 to 5 years in new 53 gallon oak barrels and is non-chill filtered. You get dried orchard fruits on the nose and spice on the palate. A full and smooth choice, best either on the rocks or in a May’s Manhattan.
Clyde May’s Straight Rye Whiskey is aged a minimum of 4 years, with floral notes, honeysuckle and apricot on the nose and spice and citrus on the palate. Finish is soft and smooth with tannins that bring out black pepper and wood spice. Best enjoyed on the rocks or served in a “Perfect” Manhattan straight up.

Today we also sample Clyde May’s Special Reserve Straight Bourbon. A select reserve of their special stock that is non chill filtered and aged 6 years in American Oak Barrels. Incredibly balanced with a smooth long finish. You get a generous amount of orchard fruits on the nose and clove and spice on the palate.
